PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Anna D. Torres is a season civil litigator with over 20 years of experience. She manages the liability department at Powers, McNalis, Torres and Teebagy, Attorneys at Law. Her practice focuses on all aspects of third party insurance defense litigation, including personal injury and wrongful death, premises liability, products liability, construction defect, automobile and transportation. Ms. Torres also handles liability coverage and insurer bad faith claims.

In 1985, Ms. Torres received her B.A. degree with distinction in English from San Diego State University and received her Juris Doctorate from Stanford Law School in 1988.

Ms. Torres began her legal practice in San Diego , California . In 1994, she relocated to Florida where she continued in private practice in Miami and Fort Lauderdale before joining Brian C. Powers and Daniel M. McNalis in 1999.


PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS

Ms. Torres is licensed to practice in Florida (1996) and California (1988) and is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, United States District Court Southern District of California, and the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of the United States District Courts in Florida .

She is a member of the American Bar Association, Florida Defense Lawyers Association, Defense Research Institute and the Palm Beach County Bar Association. In addition, Ms. Torres is a member of a number of local insurance industry associations. She is currently serving as the Editor in Chief of the Minority Trial Lawyer Newsletter of the American Bar Association Section of Litigation, Minority Trial Lawyer Committee.

Ms. Torres is a frequent speaker in continuing legal educational programs and insurance industry conferences. She has been a speaker on topics ranging from fraud, advanced personal injury practice, civil discovery, insurance law and litigation and ethics, including at these representative events:
