PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Steven C. Teebagy has over 15 years of litigation experience and is a Partner who manages a team of civil litigation attorneys at Powers, McNalis, Torres and Teebagy. He practices in many areas of law including insurance defense, fraud investigation, fraud defense, general first and third party defense, commercial litigation and a variety of general civil litigation and contract matters. He is a versatile and seasoned trial attorney with extensive court room, jury and trial experience, having tried numerous cases both in the State and Federal court system. Mr. Teebagy is admitted to practice before the Florida Supreme Court and regularly appears in Circuit Courts throughout the State of Florida. Mr. Teebagy is also admitted to practice in the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida Federal Court. He has been involved in precedent setting appellate work in the State of Florida, including a key decision involving the assessment of attorney's fees in the proposal for settlement context as well as interest on unearned premiums. Mr. Teebagy prepares and presents continuing education courses for members of the insurance industry. Mr. Teebagy holds a business degree from the University of Texas and graduated cum laude from the California Western School of Law.
Mr. Teebagy began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney prosecuting a broad range of criminal cases. During his career as an Assistant State Attorney, Mr. Teebagy prosecuted high profile murder cases and other serious violent felonies. In addition to managing and trying his own cases, Mr. Teebagy was also a supervisor of the State Attorney's County Court Division, consisting of 12 attorneys both in the county court and juvenile divisions. During his tenure as an Assistant State Attorney, Mr. Teebagy also taught legal courses at the police academy to future law enforcement officers.
MILITARY EXPERIENCE
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Teebagy served over seven years in the United States Marine Corps and United States Marine Corps Reserve. During his career in the military, Mr. Teebagy was elevated to rank of sergeant and was assigned to a special unit in the Marine Corps. During his stint in the military, Mr. Teebagy became a paratrooper and served missions with both Allied and NATO forces.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Teebagy is committed to community causes. Mr. Teebagy has a long history of volunteer efforts and community involvement. As a volunteer for Junior Achievement, Mr. Teebagy was involved regularly teaching legal concepts to public high school students. He also coached high school students in Moot Court Trial Competitions. After serving as the President of the Homeowner's Association, he undertook efforts within his neighborhood to develop a Hurricane Preparedness Committee to assist the infirm and elderly in securing their homes in advance of the storm season. Additionally, the Palm Beach Post identified Mr. Teebagy as a "hero" for his extraordinary efforts to reunite a family with their lost dog.
